The Journey to Attend the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Sochi, Russia

From October 14 to 18, 2024, two Vietnamese PhD candidates, Dao Minh Hien and Vo Van Truong, from the Compvis research group, attended the conference “049w: Inverse III-Posed Problems and Machine Learning” held at Sirius University, Sochi. This major conference brought together leading Russian and international experts in the fields of artificial intelligence and machine learning. The event focused primarily on the applications of neural networks and machine learning in solving dynamic modeling problems in physics and mathematics, big data analysis, and practical applications of neural networks and machine learning in industries such as healthcare, epidemiology, economics, the environment, and social sciences.

At the conference, the PhD candidates from the Compvis research group presented a report titled: “Estimation of the State of Charge of Energy Storage Systems Using Kolmogorov-Arnold Networks.” The report proposed a method for estimating the state of charge (SOC) of batteries using Kolmogorov-Arnold Networks (KAN). KAN is a type of artificial neural network based on the Kolmogorov-Arnold theorem, a well-known result in function approximation theory. The research findings were highly praised by leading experts, who engaged in lively discussions and provided valuable feedback.
